Bio

"Joey Frendo was built for this. Born in Michigan and raised on Southern roots music, his move to Tulsa fits like a musical glove. His lyrical style speaks to the Rust Belt’s history, while a Texas-sized twang and swinging, swampy grooves beget Frendo’s knack for bonafide songwriting.

One could say that he’s the next in a long line of songwriter’s songwriters, standing at the foot of one-name greats like Prine, Waylon, and Springsteen. His trademark grit will pull you in, and you’ll stick around for a while once you catch an earful of his lived-in blue-collar storytelling. Soulful hooks and detailed arrangements are the name of the game, and Frendo’s got enough of that magic spark to where one might say he’d make those heroes proud.

A seasoned performer that has shared the stage with the Drive-By Truckers, Penny & Sparrow, Joseph, Josh Morningstar, Langhorne Slim, and more, Frendo’s Stone Mason’s Son EP is only technically his debut. To Joey, it’s the start of a novel that’s still being written; it’s his life’s craft, being methodically chipped away at by an artist at work. This is just the beginning." - Jonathan Farm
